Spine Fusion Surgery
In some cases, two bones of vertebrae had to fused together to eliminate any mobility between them so as to help the patient get rid of painful condition. This surgery is mostly performed through minimally invasive key hole technique, but open surgeries are performed in this too.
The doctors advice the patients, who have severe pain or inability in movement in the spine at lumbar, cervical or thoraric areas, to get this surgery.
There is no specific reason for why spine degeneration happens. It can happen whenever due to any accident. It may be deteriorating disc problem, vertebral fracture, Spondylosis, spinal tumor, Scoliosis, Spinal Disc Herniation or any other health issue that can cause it.
A spine fusion surgery is performed through an incision in the stomach or back. The spine is decompressed by packing a bone substitute or screws/plates/rods to fuse the affected vertebrae.
