In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
IVF is an art or most correctly an Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) which has been very successful in helping couples who are struggling with infertility. In Vitro Fertilization or IVF process involves extraction of eggs and sperm from a female and male respectively and fusing them manually in a lab to create an embryo. The embryo, once formed, is then transferred to the uterus.
When to opt for IVF?
IVF is very advanced yet complex procedure as sometimes uterus fails to carry the embryo. However, due to its high success rate the procedure is quite popular among couples who fail to conceive naturally. IVF, though is recommended in following cases:
- Damage or blockage in Fallopian Tubes
- Male infertility
- Ovulatory disorders
- Unexplained infertility
- Failed IUI cycles
